Refill Plus Community Event
Refill Plus is Ateneo’s campus-wide activation that turns low-waste living into a simple, shared habit.
The pop-up invites students, staff, and neighbors to
(1) refill everyday home and personal-care essentials at on-site weigh-and-pay stations, and
(2) recover hard-to-recycle flexible plastics through a Smart EcoBin that rewards proper drop-offs.
The initiative is led by the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) and expands on the University’s successful Refill Revolution drives earlier in the year—part of Ateneo’s Ecological Solid Waste Management program and its commitment to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Together with partners such as Back to Basics Ecostore (refill booth) and Restore Solutions PH (sachet diversion and upcycling), Refill Plus makes waste reduction tangible on campus while educating the community about practical reuse systems that cut single-use packaging.
What happens at Refill Plus
Refill booth: weigh-and-pay refills for common household and personal-care goods—just bring clean, reusable containers.
Recovery booth: deposit clean flexible plastics/sachets in Restore Solutions’ Smart EcoBin and earn rewards; collected plastics are upcycled into new, durable materials. Instagram+4Facebook+4Facebook+4
Quick how-to: bring empty bottles & containers for refills and clean flexible plastics for drop-off; look for the booths at SEC B Foyer all week. Ateneo de Manila University+2Facebook+2
Why it matters
Refill and reuse systems are among the most effective ways to reduce plastic waste at source, and local pilots in Metro Manila have already demonstrated their feasibility and impact in community settings—evidence that small, repeated actions can add up to large-scale waste reduction. Refill Plus brings that same model onto campus, making it easy to choose reuse, cut disposables, and support circular practices
